Hive Mate is a UAE-focused marketplace that connects people looking for roommates and shared accommodation with verified listers. By creating an account you agree to these terms, which together with our Privacy policy and Acceptable use policy govern your use of the service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Emirates ID, and have the legal right to enter into a rental or shared-living arrangement in the UAE. Hive Mate is intended only for personal use; brokerage activity beyond the scope of these terms is not permitted.
2. Verification
Hive Mate manually reviews identity documents and, for Listers, proof of property. You authorise our review team to inspect the documents you upload solely for trust and safety purposes. We may approve, reject, or request resubmission at our discretion, and we will explain rejection reasons.
3. Listings and sublet permission
Listers must hold the legal right to advertise and offer the listed unit. Subletting in the UAE typically requires written landlord consent. You confirm this on every listing. Listings that violate sublet law, misrepresent the unit, or duplicate other inventory may be removed without notice.
4. Conduct
You agree to behave respectfully in Hive Mate chat and listings. Harassment, scams, and impersonation are prohibited. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate our Acceptable use policy.
5. Limitation of liability
Hive Mate is a marketplace; we facilitate introductions but do not act as a landlord, agent, or guarantor. To the maximum extent permitted by UAE law, Hive Mate is not liable for disputes arising between users about a tenancy, deposit, or shared-living arrangement. We strongly recommend signing a written agreement and verifying the unit in person before transferring funds.
6. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
